Better late than never! 😄

Our (now) 6th graders have been patiently waiting, and their monster creations have finally come to life—as stuffed animals! 🧸👾

Students originally designed these monsters as part of their writing project, and thanks to a very special grandma, those ideas were turned into real keepsakes. After some delays, we were able to finish them this year—and the students definitely hadn't forgotten! 😊

Some of our former students have moved on to a different middle school, so their monsters are on the way through the mail. We can’t wait for everyone to be reunited with their creations! 💜

Our students have been exploring the big question: How do traditions connect people? 💜

Recently, they shared posters highlighting their own family traditions and special memories. From family trips and favorite activities to meaningful moments with loved ones, each presentation gave us a glimpse into what makes their families unique.

Students did an amazing job listening, asking thoughtful questions, and learning from one another. These experiences showed that traditions help bring people together, create lasting memories, and build strong connections.

We are so proud of their confidence, respect, and curiosity!

Fourth graders stepped into the past by creating pioneer journals aligned with Idaho History standards. Each day, students followed a new Oregon Trail scenario—facing challenges like river crossings, supply shortages, and tough decisions—and wrote diary entries from a pioneer’s perspective. These handmade journals capture their creativity, empathy, and growing understanding of life on the trail.

Ms. Waugh's class is full of inventors! Students apply mathematical thinking as they design and build models of their own inventions using everyday materials—measuring lengths, estimating dimensions, recognizing patterns, and problem-solving to bring their ideas to life. After reading texts connected to the essential question, “How can inventions help the world around us?”, students identify real-world problems and create solutions through their designs. They use spatial reasoning and logical thinking to test and refine their models, and then communicate their ideas by writing opinion essays explaining why their invention is the best solution.

On Wednesday the kindergarteners at Perrine Elementary had an opportunity to witness some cool experiments for E day in our alphabet countdown. Mr. Franklin, from Canyon Ridge high school , did a variety of experiments that wowed the kindergarteners. He used static electricity to move a pop can and bottle and stick a balloon to the wall. He also did Elephant toothpaste that had the students cheering in delight and a few other experiments that had the students cheering. We ended with the student getting to participate in the experiments by giving groups tubes with baking soda and vinegar so they could feel what happened when they combined.

Thanks to Mr. Franklin for taking the time to amaze our students. Fun Fact: Mrs. Lierman (kinder teacher) was one of Mr. Franklin's former students.
